JIP – 04/06/12
The Electric Brew - A place for coffee and gathering in downtown Goshen, IN.
Hello, my name is Jim. I’m a singer / songwriter from the Chicagoland area.
My influences are heavily based on the variety of 90's alternative rock musicians. The influences include Ben Folds, Local H, and Tracy Bonham. I've been to nearly 1000 live concerts so you'll also hear a variety of genres while listening to JIP.
I’ve been a solo musician for over 10 years and I’ve only made home recordings for my own pleasure. Writing songs has always been an escape for me and helped me cope with daily life. In 2008 I recorded an album called, The Silver Line. The Silver Line was a concept record about walking to the edge and taking that next step toward your dreams. The Silver Line really set my mind straight about understanding what was important to me in life. The processes writing The Silver Line help shape my new album, Year X.
In 2011 I released the album Year X and is what I believe to be the signature record for JIP. JIP: YEAR X was recorded at Million Yen Studios and Pogo Studios in Illinois.
I approached this album wanting to write a simple record that got an important point across. That point is that life should consist of pursuing happiness and embracing what you have. I recorded the demo tracks for this record in November 2010 in Champaign, IL with Spencer Watson. The demo tracks for this record were recorded the same way I recorded The Silver Line. I’ve always wanted to have a signature album to be proud of so I took my efforts and funds toward professional recording studios. Taking that step into the studio was the breaking point for understanding what this record could be. My untamed creativity has met studio structure which makes for a much better sound. This record gave me the chance to have friends be a part of this album and have the opportunity to work with my favorite recording artist. At this point I’ve never been more proud of a project. This effort has been praised in the great response to Year X.
JIP just finished the first leg of a tour supporting Year X. This tour consisted of playing live shows in the Chicagoland area.
JIP has reached all 50 states and has had radio play in 8 of them. JIP also received response from 8 US Governors for the song, "Voices", from Year X. JIP has also received praise and radio play in 4 countries.
2012 will bring more live shows and possibly new recordings :)
