Other Info
Allie Burbrink (The Whipstitch Sallies) and Lukas Simpson (Goldmine Pickers, Red Hot Rivet, CheeseHeart, and Hard Travelin’ Boys) bring a fresh approach to folk music. Their repertoire draws from folk and bluegrass traditions, and they are especially drawn to story songs and ballads. Their sound features rich, beautiful harmonies and inspiring instrumentation with traditional sensibilities yet also a modern approach.

Allie grew up singing along to “Wee Sing Fun ‘n Folk,” managed and performed with a rock band during high school, and began exploring bluegrass after hearing Goldmine Pickers at a summer festival in 2006. She has played her trusty Martin DM for twelve years and has performed folk and bluegrass with The Whipstitch Sallies since January 2010. She teaches seventh grade Language Arts south of Indianapolis.

Luke plays guitar, mandolin, clawhammer banjo, harmonica, and bouzouki in addition to singing. His love of music has brought him countless opportunities to perform with other professional musicians and in diverse venues. His song “Conversation’s Free” was even featured in a European Nissan commercial that aired in over thirty-five countries worldwide. Luke teaches private lessons; leads guitar camp for kids two weeks every summer; plays in the pit orchestra for Premier Arts in Elkhart, IN; and performs with Goldmine Pickers, Red Hot Rivet, CheeseHeart, and Hard Travelin’ Boys, a Led Zeppelin acoustic band.
