Zach DuBois – 02/17/12
The Electric Brew - A place for coffee and gathering in downtown Goshen, IN.
- Zach DuBois
Zach DuBois is a firm believer that everything “Happens for a Reason.” The itle track from the country music singer/songwriter’s debut EP, "Happens for a
Reason – EP," explains how disappointments and heartbreak in his own life have acted as blessings in disguise, leading him to discover his life’s passion – music.
DuBois discovered his musical passion as a result of an injury before football
season of his senior year in high school. Stuck at home, unable to participate in 2-a-day practices, DuBois decided to pick up his dad’s old guitar and teach
himself how to play, after watching the music video for Dierks Bentley’s, “Settle
for a Slowdown.” He’s been playing guitar and writing songs ever since.
As a songwriter, DuBois finds inspiration in his modest, small-town up-bringing. Born and raised outside of Elkhart, Indiana on a family farm located on the opposite end of a cornfield from his grandparents. He credits his tight-knit family and the strong faith and values instilled in him as essential cornerstones to the foundation of his music and his life.
A recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame (’11), DuBois began making a name for himself by playing gigs around the Notre Dame campus and his
hometown of Elkhart, IN. Since then, he has played at venues in Indiana,
Michigan, Illinois, and Tennessee, and opened for national touring artist Bucky
Covington.
“Zach is a young musician who could possibly mark the return of the singer/
songwriter to Country Music, by boldly stepping well outside of it’s current
boundaries and back into it’s angst-filled story telling past. A past with an “outlaw” rock and roll edge dangerously combined with the stark self awareness of a great folk writer. A past, and also a future, teeming with the consciousness and struggle of the intelligent working American. Zach is well on his way to developing a quintessential country voice, a little “Haggard”, a little “Jennings” crossed with the soul wrenching power and emotion of “Springsteen”...His live show, like all the greats, is the only way to truly experience this new voice in American music.” -
