bonnie johns was born and raised in Goshen. She attended Waterford Elementary School, Elkhart Township Jr High ( so titled at the time), Goshen HS, and graduated from Goshen College in 1975. She wrote her first song at age 6, and has been playing with music and lyric ever since. Songwriting has been a constant, though much of her life she has been a closet musician/performer. Folk singer/songwriter and peace activist Jim Glover has described bonnie's songs as "melodic missiles."

bonnie has opened for a number singer/songwriters on the folk circuit such as Rod Macdonald, Rosalie Sorrels, and Lobo.
bonnie's present home is in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She says, "I like to support all things local. I invite Goshenites to come out and support their own locally raised singer/songwriter.

bonnie is also a visual artist and enjoys sharing her artwork as part of her performance.
