Mike Nyhuis – 12/16/11
The Electric Brew - A place for coffee and gathering in downtown Goshen, IN.
“The Worst of Me” is Mike’s second full length CD, produced throughout 2011. “‘The Worst of Me’ is a confessional of sorts, highlighting failures, depression, happiness, faith, and the need for God’s grace. After over 10 years of struggling with convictions, I’ve finally let go of “the American musician’s dream” and could care less about the cookie cutter music from before.”
The Worst of Me offers listeners the ability to reflect and relate to life. The title track (The Worst of Me) is the first single, and it depicts someone at the edge of life, fed up with the way things are. Instead of drastic measures, the person calls out for Divine intervention. The rest of the CD depicts the upward climb out of the stuff of life.
Mike has entertained crowds all around the Midwest throughout high school and college. After a 5 year hiatus, he has returned to the music scene to once again entertain. Originally learning bass, Mike transitioned to guitar and has been playing music (publicly and privately) for the last 16 years. Mike offers an easy-listening melody for fans of modern worship artists such as Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, and Jars of Clay. He also appeases the fans of mainstream artists such as The Decemberists, Great Lake Swimmers, and Iron and Wine.
